Editing
As we mentioned in our Copy Writing Section, every message your organization sends out needs to represent your values and be written in language that effectively represents the organization.
It is possible for a team of professional wordsmiths to achieve this kind of uniformity in tone, and they will get better at it the longer they work together. However, the simplest solution – and one that every media organization in the world uses – is to have all the messages edited.
We can be of real help here, whether you have a team of writers – lucky you! – or just one dedicated wordsmith, or even a staff member who always wanted to be a journalist before that industry shriveled and almost died.
An effective editor polishes copy rather than rewriting it. And this means the original writer is delighted to see their copy sparkle (while remaining “theirs”) and you will be delighted to see the improved results created by an effective edit.
The nuts-and-bolts of editing could not be simpler from your side: simply send us your copy and get back all the suggested revisions, which you can decide to keep or alter as you see fit. It’s easiest if the original copy is in Microsoft Word, as we can then use Word’s Track Changes feature, but any word processing programme will do.
Copy editing is often overlooked, but it probably represents the most cost effective of all the services we offer.
